The MCD has sent sealing notices to shopkeepers in more than ten markets. Also, the local corporation has asked the shop owners to appear before the deputy commissioner on various dates. On the other hand, on Friday, the team of Public Health Department of the corporation sealed two shops in Lajpat Nagar-II. Notices have been sent to the shopkeepers who have not paid the conversion fee for a long time or are running the business illegally.
Senior officials of the corporation said that sealing notices have been sent to shopkeepers in markets like Sadar Bazar, Karol Bagh, Chandni Chowk, Kamla Nagar and Greater Kailash. Following the directions of the Monitoring Committee of the Supreme Court, notices have been sent to all those shop owners who have not paid the conversion fee for a long time. At the same time, two shops have been sealed in Lajpat Nagar, here the eatery was being run without license inside the residential house. On receiving the complaint from the local people, the team of Public Health Department took action on Friday morning.
Traders of Sadar Bazar are protesting
After the election of MCD, the corporation has accelerated the process of sending notices to the shops. First of all sealing action was taken in Sadar Bazar. The shopkeepers here are opposing it. Shopkeepers say that they have got relief from the convergence fee in the master plan. Still MCD is sending notices even though MCD has clarified that illegal commercial activities are being carried out inside most of the residential houses in Old Delhi.
